This is a vintage sewing pattern I found that I thought would be a great substitute for Belle's ballroom gown. I wanted something that had a similar amount of volume and was off the shoulder. I included multiple shades of yellow, similar to the original. It may be a bit over the top, bit it will also make for some amazing photos.
For a pants look I tried to do something that maybe a modern Belle might wear. The top is still off the shoulder, and includes the ruching that is reminiscent of ruffles. I chose some pants that I thought looked quite academic, making the whole ensamble perfect for our favorite book worm.
Ears:
I tried to design the ears to have two distinct sides. The front was meant to look like Belle's gown, it is a very classic design for Belle ears, The back however, includes Cogsworth and Lumiere as well as the phrase "A tale as old as time..." to make direct references to the film. I also included some roses, and one in the middle on the front, as roses are so symbolic and important to the film.
Additional Details:
As far as fabric goes, using something simple and matte should work just fine. It could all be done in the same fabric, or done in multiple shades of yellow if you have the money and enough sewing talent to complicate the patterns. If you felt like adding a little bit of spice, it could be fun to add some more intricate and specialty fabrics, maybe something shiny for the skirt or a lighter fabric for the off the shoulder ruffles. Or, for the top in the second outfit it might be good to have a more stretchy material. But remember, the fun of making your own Disneyboud is you can make it exactly how you would like! Choose the fabric, pattern, and extra details to be exactly how you would like it.
