This is an outfit I have actually made and worn to Disney, so I know it's totally doable and will be a huge crowd pleaser. This was originally a pirate costume, so it already has the necessary aquatic vibes. The top is reminiscent of Ariel's seashell bra without being too revealing (and pads can be sewn into it). The skirt flairs at the end and actually goes up in the back, making a perfect mermaid tail!
Since not everyone likes skirts, this set is perfect! The sweetheart neckline will be great for imitating Ariel's top, and it had matching rushing to the bottoms so they math nicely. The pants are pretty simple, but with the green and using a lighter color for the rushing at the bottom in a lighter color, it can still make an excellent substitute mermaid tail.
Ears:
I designed the ears for these outfits to be an adorable addition to the look. I wanted to make sure they had a seashell and mermaid scales to perfectly encapsulate the character's outfit. I included a red bow and headband to represent Ariels fiery red hair. And for a finishing touch, a fork (or dinglehopper) in the bow!
Additional Details:
When it comes to choosing the fabric for the top, anything purple would work. I used something a little shiny, but something matte or sparkly would work as well. When it comes to the bottom, it would be to the greatest effect to chose a fabric that imitates mermaid scales or is sparkly green. However, since those can be quite pricey, remember a normal green fabric would work as well. If you're going to chose some accessories focus on including seashells anything mermaid, or maybe even something reminiscent of flounder and Sebastian. But remember, the fun of making your own Disneyboud is you can make it exactly how you would like! Choose the fabric, pattern, and extra details to be exactly how you would like it.
